TTGV was established on 1 June 1991 in order to raise the industry sector's awareness of R&D and to support the technology development projects of the Turkish industry through funds provided by the Undersecretariat of Treasury from the resources of the World Bank.
Within this framework, TTGV has supported "technological products and process innovation" projects of manufacturers and software companies. Technological products and process innovations are defined as follows in accordance with the OECD criteria:
1. A technologically new product is a product whose technological characteristics or intended uses differ significantly from those of previously produced products. Such innovations can involve fundamentally new technologies, they can be based on combining existing technologies in new applications, or they can be derived from the use of new knowledge.
2. A technologically improved product is an existing product whose performance has been significantly enhanced or upgraded. A simple product may be improved (in terms of better performance or lower cost) through use of higher-performance components or materials, or a complex product which consists of a number of integrated technical sub-systems may be improved by partial changes to one of the sub-system. Development of environmental-friendly products is also considered within this concept.
Technological process innovation is the adoption of technologically new or significantly improved production methods. These methods may involve changes in equipment or the organisation of production, or a combination of these changes. They will be derived from the use of new knowledge. The methods may be intended to produce or deliver technologically new and improved products, which cannot be produced or delivered using conventional production methods, or essentially to increase the efficiency of production or delivery of existing products. Projects intended to reduce environmental damage are also considered in this framework.
TTGV contributes up to 50 % of the total project budget. The timeframe for the support is maximum 24 months. The amount provided by TTGV is a maximum of EUR 1.65 million, with no minimum amount stipulated.
TTGV supports up to 50% of the total budget of a project. Companies proposing projects are required to at least match the amount of funding provided by TTGV. During the implementation of projects, TTGV disburses on a monthly basis.
The companies supported should repay the amount provided within four years after the termination of the project.
