The programme goal is to cover some parts of the companies' R&D expenses for research projects, technological innovation, and development of new products and/or production methods. The programme budget is controlled by the Undersecretariat of the Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade and managed by TUBITAK - TIDEB.
The R&D Support Programme is a non-refundable grant. Companies can receive funding of up to 60 % of their R&D expenses. There is no limitation on the project budget, but the duration of the project should be at maximum 36 months. Companies can apply for funding of R&D projects in accordance with the thematic areas or for funding of R&D projects that are not directly in line with the thematic areas.
Thematic areas are:
- Information technologies
- Multifunctional production technologies
- Enhanced material technologies
- Genetic engineering and bio-technology
- Space and aeronautics technologies
- Technologies for environmental protection
R&D projects are required to have the following goals in order to receive
funding:
- New product development
- Enhancement of the quality and standards of the product
- Application of new technologies in order to reduce costs and to enhance
standards
- Development of new production technologies.
The following phases of R&D projects are funded:
- Concept development
- Technological and economical feasibility studies
- Process from the concept to the design
- Design studies
- Production of prototype
- Establishment of pilot development environment
- Production of trials
- Patent and license efforts
- After sales problem solving activities
Supported expense items are:
- Personnel expenses
- Purchasing of equipment/software/hardware/publications
- Purchasing of services like consultancy.
- Additional R&D support from national R&D companies
- Purchasing of materials
- Travel expenses
- Patent costs
